When we had just started Farmerleaf, we used to release three types of Jingmai teas: Miyun, Gulan and Tian Xiang. The latter would bridge a price gap between ancient garden material and the much cheaper 'Shengtai'.
This year, we've decided to reinstate this cake edition. We've used our best natural tea gardens, mostly located in Liu Dui, and a lower amount of ancient garden material. This tea is overall stronger than the Miyun and offers a good amount of Huigan. It offers a medium bitterness and the jingmai typical orchid fragrance.

Very rich, green aromas, both with the dry and rinsed leaves. The material is very clean and healthy looking, as always. Wonderful to wake up to. This tea does not take long to get going. Pleasantly intense flavors in the first few steeps. Very balanced minerality and sweetness, tied together with the lovely herbaceous, floral greens. A great example of what Farmerleaf does so well in their processing: Bringing the flavor of the tree and terroir to the forefront. The Jingmai blends are a really good place to start with Farmerleaf, due to their balanced profile. Of course, the fun is in exploring and comparison. Middle steeps settle into less intense flavor and the light tingly mouthfeel takes over. Further in, the huigan and cooling effects start to kick in. A very pleasant and sophisticated session. While I like the Jingmai Miyun blend, the Tian Xiang is an upgrade. I can heartily recommend this tea I can’t believe I haven’t tried the Gulan yet. Next order for sure :)
